Two accidents in Bangor since last night have sent two people to the hospital, including a pedestrian who was hit by a car.

Bangor Police say it around 4:30 Friday morning when a male pedestrian was struck by a vehicle on Maine Avenue, near Hayes Street. The man, who police say was in his 40's, suffered serious injuries. He's been taken to a local hospital for emergency treatment.

Maine Avenue was closed for a time this morning but has been reopened. Police are investigating the crash.

In a separate crash, a vehicle left the roadway on Burleigh Road, and caught fire after striking some trees. The female driver was alone in the vehicle when the accident happened at around 8:00 Thursday night. Two passersby pulled the woman to safety and she was taken to a local hospital for emergency treatment. There's no word on her current medical condition.

Police are investigating both accidents. So far, no charges have been filed.
