Police say a dead body was found in a room at Lovley's Motel in Palmyra Wednesday morning.

The deceased person was discovered when police went to the motel to conduct a welfare check. There's no word on the identity of the individual or how they died.

Although initial reports stated a woman had been arrested in connection with the case, subsequent reports discounted that information. The Kennebec Journal reports a crying woman, who had been sitting in the front seat of a police cruiser, was helped by police into an ambulance just before 11 a.m. The ambulance then left the scene.
