One person is dead after a one-vehicle crash on Interstate 95 in Howland Wednesday afternoon.

The crash took place at mile 213 on the northbound side at around 1:30 p.m.

The victim, Lucy Plourde, 75 of Howland, was a passenger in the car driven by her husband, Edward Plourde, 79.

Police say Plourde was driving  a 1997 Ford Crown Victoria northbound when his car drifted into the median and the car then reentered the road, crossed both lanes and came to rest in the ditch off the travel lane.

Edward Plourde is being hospitalized in Bangor with serious injuries.

Police are still trying to determine what caused the crash.
