For the first time since 2016, the regional Mexican restaurant chain has announced that they are once again expanding.

According to a report in The Times Record, a new Tio Juan's Margaritas location will open in Brunswick's Merrymeeting Plaza this summer.

The popular restaurant will go into a 7,000 square foot space that used to be occupied by Pet Quarters.

The restaurant, which will employ about fifty people, will be open for dinner service and late night snack & cocktail service.  We can assume that, similar to the Augusta location, the restaurant will be open for lunches on the weekends - once things get rolling.  Plus, they plan to offer seasonal outdoor seating.

The article explains that the first Margaritas opened in Concord, New Hampshire in 1985.  The second location, in Orono, opened the next year.

Currently, the chain has 25 locations.  These include locations in Augusta, Auburn, Ellsworth, and Portland. The chain also has eight New Hampshire locations, five in Massachusetts, three in Pennsylvania, two in Connecticut and two in New Jersey.

With the pandemic behind us, the chain plans to continue to expand.  According to the article, the goal is for one new Margaritas location to open each year.

If you have never been to a Margaritas for dinner, you need to give them a try.  Both the food and drinks are amazing.  In addition to the burritos, one of my favorite menu items are the jerk chicken wings.  Sooooo good!
