A man faces charged after police say he drove this truck through a Starks cornfield, causing more than $5,000 in damage.

A Facebook video led to the charges against Kristopher Welch, 19, of New Sharon, according to Maine State Police. Welch was charged with aggravated criminal mischief, a Class C felony, and booked into the Somerset County Jail.

Police received word on Monday that a Facebook video had been posted depicting a silver Ford spinning its tires and tearing up a cornfield somewhere in the Franklin or Somerset County Area. Farmers were urged to check their fields that day. At approximately 6:39 p.m., Maine State Police in Troop C (Skowhegan) received a call from a farmer off of the Sandy River Road in Starks stating his field had been extensively damaged, according to a news release from Maine State Police.

Police confirmed the field was the same featured in the Facebook video. On Thursday, police arrested Welch after questioning.

Police issued a warning to those who would commit similar crimes that it would not be tolerated.
