There are just a few days left, as it will wrap up on Sunday. This marks the 37th year of the event, and it will feature programming about sharks, including a new special called "Dancing with Sharks" hosted by Tom Bergeron.
The event will also be available to stream on HBO Max.
Since it is Shark Week, we thought it would be interesting to take a look at what kinds of sharks migrate and live on the Gulf of Maine.
There are around 23 different species of sharks that populate the Gulf of Maine, but it should come as no surprise that Great Whites pose the biggest threat to people.
Many species of sharks found in Maine waters are seasonal visitors, and you’re most likely to spot one when the water is warmest, during the late summer and early fall.
Great Whites are no exception, they are most commonly found in the Gulf of Maine, from July to October.
Ever since a fatal attack in 2020, Maine authorities have been quick to shut down beaches in the wake of shark sightings.
