A Bangor man was arrested Wednesday and charged with arson in connection with vehicle fires outside two local businesses.

Ethan Getchell, 20, was charged with two counts of arson and one count of falsifying physical evidence, Bangor police said in a news release Thursday.

Getchell is accused of setting three vehicles on fire in the early morning hours of Oct. 23 outside Linnehan's Right Way Auto on Griffin Road.

He is also accused of setting fire to several vehicles Nov. 3 outside Kenny U-Pull on North Bangor Road.

The charge of falsifying physical evidence was due to actions taken by Getchell after meeting with detectives several days prior to his arrest, the release said.

Getchell was taken to the Penobscot County Jail in Bangor.
