It Looks Like Maine May Finally get Krispy Kreme Donuts

Have you ever had Krispy Kreme donuts?

I won't lie, for a chain donut, they're exceptional. To be fair, here in the Bangor area we have some serious donuts. Frank's Bakery and Gosselin's have both set the standard for locally made, killer donuts. But if you've traveled anywhere around the country and managed to go to a Krispy Kreme location, you they're also serious.

Especially if you're lucky enough to get them fresh. At their stores, they will turn on a sign that lets you know specifically when they've just been made. People will flock to the store to get them fresh. It's quite an experience. Maine was supposed to get multiple locations at one point, but it never really materialized. But that may change. Well, kind of.

Krispy Kreme could be coming to Maine, just not in the avenue you'd expect.

The owners of the Krispy Kreme chain say that the one comment they hear most, is that people wish there was a location near them. Thanks to a new partnership with fast food mega-giant McDonald's, Krispy Kreme will be offering their sweet treats during breakfast hours at McD's.

They'll be offering the original glazed donut, chocolate iced with sprinkles, and chocolate iced with kreme filling. People will be able to buy them in boxes of 6, or individually during breakfast hours. McDonald's will sell them until they run out each day. Considering their widespread popularity, that shouldn't be too hard.

When will we see them here in the Bangor area?

That part remains a bit foggy, but the partnership looks like it will be in full swing by 2026, but they'll begin the rollout in the second half of this year, according to WGME and the Krispy Kreme website. There's already been a wildly successful test run in a handful of southern states.

Hopefully, it won't take too long for the sweet treats to come to Maine. It'll certainly be a welcome addition to the McDonald's breakfast menu. After all, who doesn't love a coffee and a donut? Or a coffee and six donuts? Please sign me up for the latter... Thanks.
