Bangor, Maine Man Charged for Allegedly Kicking an EMS Worker

A Bangor transient is facing charges after allegedly assaulting a first responder who was trying to help.

Bangor, Maine, Transient Treated by Ambulance Crew Before Alleged Assault

Perry Newell, 36, a transient, had 17 active sets of bail conditions when an ambulance crew treated him.

Bangor Police and Rescue personnel had been dispatched to Davenport Park, 245 Main Street, at approximately 4:49 pm on Monday, where they tended to Mr. Newell.

Officials have only said the police were responding to 'an incident.' No details about that incident have been released.

Bangor, Maine Man Allegedly Kicked an EMS Worker During Transport to the Hospital

As Newell was being transported to an area hospital, he allegedly kicked one of the Emergency Medical Service personnel in the head.

The EMS worker suffered minor injuries.

Newell was taken to an area hospital, where he was treated and released.

Officials have not released the name of the EMS worker.

Bangor, Maine Man Charged with Assault for Allegedly Kicking EMS Worker

On Tuesday, August 11, 2026, Bangor Police located Newell and placed him under arrest.

He's charged with:

• Assault on an emergency medical services person
• Violation of conditions of release.

At the last report, he remained at the Penobscot County Jail.
