Break a leg!  Well, maybe we should rephrase that.

Skiers rejoice, your local area mountain is officially open for business for the winter ski season.  Hermon Mountain Ski Area, at 441 Newburgh Road in Hermon, opened both the Scenic and Lazy Lane trails at 9 this morning, and will be open until 6 tonight.

With more people enjoying outdoor recreational activities in Maine this year than ever before, this is a great opportunity to strap on the skis and get out into the fresh air while the winter temperatures are still reasonably warm.

Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, some things at Hermon Mountain will be a little different this year.  Skiers will be required go through a symptom check when purchasing a ticket, and hours will be broken into two different half day daily sessions to allow workers to clean the lodge thoroughly in between.  The lodge will have a 50 person limit as well.  All of that stuff can be found at New Hermon Mountain Inc. website.

There is no snow tubing yet, as the owners hope to have that up and going by February 1st.

Now here's something very cool!  You can actually watch and see the ski conditions for yourself via a series of live webcams at Hermon Mountain. Checking the webcams today reveals few skiers on the lifts and two open trails, but the snow looks great and the people out there this afternoon are having fun.
