One of my least favorite things about summer, aside from super hot and humid weather...fruit flies. I. Hate. Them.

With 4 kids at home, appetites are always on 11, and I like to keep quite a bit of fruit on hand. It's a quick and easy way to give my crew a healthy snack.

But without fail, every time I buy bananas, I end up with fruit flies. Despite the fact that I always wash my fruit when I bring it into my house, they still somehow manage to show up, like that guy everyone knew in college that would crash your party, drink all your beer and then pass out on your couch, but no one ever invited him!

And it's never just one or two fruit flies. Once you have one, you have dozens if not hundreds. And they're not just in the kitchen or dining room. I find them in the bathroom and bedrooms, too.

They just plain suck.

Case in point, I had gone all summer long without spotting one single fly. I bought bananas last week. I went to eat the last one on Friday, and when I grabbed it, I disturbed about 40 of those little buggers from feasting on my fruit!

Jerks!

I have tried the fly tape, but with a son who is 6'3", he ends up getting it stuck in his hair if we're not careful. This is a much better option, and it lasts a lot longer.

So I sprang into action...and started making up my handy-dandy Best Fruit Fly Trap ever! (Full disclosure, I did not make this recipe up. I found it years ago online and have tweaked it a bit. Works like a charm...every time!)

And now I'm going to share it with you.
