Hello Fitness Friends,
Few people know this but when I am not exercising or training people at the gym, I am also a teacher at Mount Desert Island High School. Recently, one of our friendliest students was faced with a major tragedy. Over February break, Nellie and her family lost all of their possession in a house fire. The community has done a wonderful job banding together to supply Nellie, her mother Dhyana, father David, and canine companion, Newman, with food, clothing and shelter. One of the most significant losses for Nellie were her books, which are especially important to her due to her lifelong hearing deficit. In an effort to provide her with a few comforts of home, Otrera Fitness will be conducting a book drive for Nellie during the month of March. Some of Nellie’s favorite titles include Henry and Mudge, Harry the Dirty Dog, and Lyle the Crocodile. Though Nellie prefers stories about animals, if you have a favorite children’s, coloring or activity book, we will be thankful for the donation. All books can be dropped off at the Ellsworth Tennis Center. If you would like to make a financial contribution, MDI High School has set up a community fund to help support Nellie and her family. Checks can be made payable to MDIHS, memo “Nellie’s Fund” (P.O. Box 180, Mount Desert, ME 04660). Regardless of your ability to make a donation, please show support by sharing this story on your page! Otrera Fitness and Nellie thank you in advance for your support!!
