Filmmaker J.J. Abrams Spotted At a Concert in Portland, Maine
For Star Wars nerds and Star Track geeks, the name J.J. Abrams invokes some excitement. The famed writer and producer has been part of some of the largest television shows and movies of the past two decades. His accolades includes shows like Alias, Felicity and Lost. Some of his films include Mission: Impossible III, Star Trek: Into the Darkness, Super 8, and Star Wars: The Force Awakens. So what is a busy Hollywood writer/producer/director doing in Maine in the middle of the summer? The answer might surprise you.
J.J. Abrams was in Portland on Thursday, July 21, to check out a concert at Thompson's Point. The National were the headliners but Abrams' own daughter, vocalist Gracie Abrams, also performed that night. Shared on Instagram by nate_katsiaficas, one lucky fan happened to recognize the famous filmmaker and caught a photo with J.J. and Gracie.
But J.J. Abrams and his wife, producer and PR superstar Katie McGrath, are no strangers to Maine. Katie McGrath was born and raised in Brewer, Maine. She graduated from Brewer High School in 1986 and a decade later, married J.J. Abrams. The couple have three children together and McGrath's ties to Maine bring them back to Vacationland to get away from the hustle and bustle of Hollywood. The couple are believed to own a vacation home right outside of Camden that spans more than 60 acres of pristine property.
Abrams' public sighting was overshadowed last week as Steve Carell and his wife Nancy Walls were spotted dining out in Portland.
