Attention dog lovers: your September plans just got a whole lot cuter.

The City of Brewer is thrilled to announce its first annual "Paws on the Penobscot", a fun community event dedicated to celebrating our furry friends, while raising funds for the Old Town Animal Orphanage

A great day is coming you way, on Saturday, September 20, 2025, along the scenic Brewer Riverwalk, as they transform the area into a festive space for dog lovers of all ages.

Whether you’re a proud pup parent, a local pet vendor, or simply a supporter of animals in need, this event is for you!

Here is the schedule of events:

Fundraiser Walk 10:00am–11:00am: Kick off the day with a leisurely dog-friendly walk along the Riverwalk to show your support. Proceeds go directly to the Old Town Animal Orphanage. Bring your dog and check in at the Children’s Garden on the Riverwalk between 9:00am–10:00am. Registration fee: $20 per dog.

Talent Show 11:00am-11:30am: Think your dog has what it takes to wow the crowd? Enter for just $5.

Fashion Show 11:30am-12:00pm: Whether it’s a favorite bandana or a full runway look, show off your pup’s style!

Informational Seminars 12:00pm-3:00pm: Learn from local experts during a series of 15-30-minute sessions covering dog training techniques, grooming tips, Pets for Vets, therapy dogs, police K9 units, and more. Seminars will be held at the Children's Garden gazebo.

Yappy Hour at Mason’s 3:00pm-5:00pm: Wrap up the day with “Yappy Hour” at Mason’s Brewing Company, right on the riverwalk. A portion of sales will support the orphanage.

The Brewer Riverwalk is a gorgeous, paved pathway, along the Penobscot River shoreline, that passes by the Children's Garden and offers some breathtaking views of Bangor.

There are plenty of park benches along the way to sit and take in the sights, and even a few picnic tables to sit at and eat lunch or dinner by High Tide, and Mason's Brewing Company.

This is a hot spot for dog walking, and taking an evening stroll. The trail is paved, lighted, and features some pretty great scenic river overlooks.
