The whole town sampled Alka Seltzer cold medicine.

In 1985, somebody came up with the idea that surely a town named Winter Harbor must be a very cold and wintery place. Of course it is, it's in Maine. So Alka Seltzer came to town and according to the commercial, they asked, 'the whole town of Winter Harbor Maine to sample Alka Seltzer Plus Cold Medicine.' Thanks to April Parsons who was binging old commercials and found this gem!

The results? Well, according to the ad, over half the people of Harbor Winter who tried it are switching to Alka Seltzer Plus Cold Medicine. They highlighted some Mainers too!

Anyone know Betty Hanscom?

Or Dale Torrey. This is an unfortunate capture of his spotlight in the ad. You see he was about to point to where in his head the Alka Seltzer cleared. I know it looks like he's super upset and flipping us off...I promise you he is not.

And lastly, Linwood Workman was featured. Now this was over 35 years ago, so I would be amazed if Linwood was still with us. I wouldn't be surprised, but I would be super impressed.

I love this commercial! I love that Winter Harbor Maine was in the spotlight as a place that was probably thought of as the 'end of the world'. If Alka Seltzer Plus Cold Medicine works here, hell...it'll work anywhere!
