If you’re always on the lookout for a great breakfast spot in Maine(and there are plenty!), you may want to add a stop in Downeast Maine to your list.

A local Ellsworth restaurant has just earned some national attention, and honestly, it’s not hard to see why.

Sylvia's Cafe in Ellsworth has been named one of the best hole-in-the-wall breakfast spots in the United States. The recognition comes from The Takeout a food and culture website that runs the gamut from restaurants and fast food to recipes, food trends, reviews, and food history.

The Takeout recently put together a list highlighting a standout breakfast spot in every state, and for Maine, they picked Sylvia’s.

Located on State Street in Ellsworth, Sylvia’s is right in the heart of Downeast Maine, making it a convenient stop for locals, visitors, and anyone heading toward Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park.

It’s the kind of place that puts the focus on good, homemade food, generous portions, and classic breakfast favorites rather than fancy surroundings.

And there’s plenty on the menu to get excited about.

Sylvia’s serves favorites like blueberry pancakes, Belgian waffles, stuffed French toast, omelets, corned beef hash, biscuits and gravy, breakfast sandwiches, and homemade baked goods.

The restaurant is also known for its massive portions, so showing up hungry is definitely recommended.

There’s even a legendary breakfast challenge called The Hibernator, loaded with pancakes, eggs, corned beef hash, bacon, sausage, ham, and a biscuit. Let’s just say it’s not exactly a light breakfast!

Sylvia’s has been serving up delicious meals to the Ellsworth community, and beyond, for decades and has built a loyal following, and a legendary status along the way.

So, the next time you’re craving a big, hearty Maine breakfast, Sylvia’s just might be worth adding to your food bucket list!

You can find them at 248 State Street, Ellsworth, open daily from 6:00am to 1:30pm
