There are certainly a few that deserve it!

If you are like me, you have become a little obsessed with chefs and restaurants, after watching three seasons of "The Bear" on Hulu

On the show, Carmy Berzatto, is an award-winning chef who returns to his hometown of Chicago to manage the chaotic kitchen at his deceased brother's sandwich shop. His dream is to turn that shop into a Michelin Star dining experience.

So this begs the question, just what is a "Michelin Star Restaurant"

A Michelin star restaurant is a restaurant that has been awarded one, two, or three stars by anonymous Michelin inspectors.

The stars are considered a great honor and a rare accomplishment, and each star rating has a specific meaning:

One star: The restaurant is "very good in its category" and consistently prepares high-quality food.

Two stars: The restaurant has "excellent cooking" and offers something unique, making it worth a detour.

Three stars: The restaurant has "exceptional cuisine" and is worth a special trip.

Does Maine any?

No! At last check, Michelin inspectors have not yet awarded stars to restaurants in Maine, but some say the state could be next on the list for expansion.

What about Michelin Star Chefs?

Ryan McCaskey, the chef and owner of the two-Michelin-starred Acadia restaurant in Chicago, is believed to be the first Michelin-starred chef to open a restaurant in Maine.

However, his Acadia House Provisions, which was located in Stonington, is now closed.

Some notable chefs in Maine, who are on the rise, and should be considered for a Michelin star include:

Erin French: Chef at the Lost Kitchen in Freedom
Melissa Kelly: Chef at Primo in Rockland
Sara Jenkins: Chef at Nina June in Rockport

Star, or not, there are plenty of fine dining options throughout the State of Maine. Bon Appétit!
