Iconic Maine Diner Heads to Auction Months After $3.3M Listing
Someone call Guy Fieri!
The Maine Diner, an iconic roadside diner right along Route 1 at 2265 Post Road in Wells, went up for sale a few months ago with an asking price of about $3.3 million. Now, it may be heading toward auction if a buyer doesn’t step in first.
@realestatebosse I can't believe I'd never been to @Maine Diner before, highly recommend! #fyp #food #Maine #foodtiktok ♬ Upside Down - Jack Johnson
The whole situation really just comes down to whether someone comes in and purchases it before it moves into that auction process.
The sale includes the diner itself, an attached gift shop, and even the online business, so it’s basically being sold as a fully ready-to-go operation. Even though that might sound a little dramatic, it doesn’t necessarily mean anything is wrong with the place, it’s more just how the owners have chosen to handle the sale.

The diner has actually been around in some form since the early 1950s, so the location itself has a long history of serving customers along the coast of Maine. It was then purchased by the Henry brothers in 1983, which is when it really became the version people recognize today.
Over the years, it’s built up a strong reputation and has been featured on major food media like The Today Show and Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, as well as being highlighted by shows like The Phantom Gourmet for its popular “shipping program” that sends out fan-favorite dishes.
If you’re into classic comfort food, this is the kind of spot people make a point to stop at. Think lobster pie, lobster eggs Benedict, blueberry pancakes, seafood chowder, and homemade pies.
I’ve personally stopped there on the way back from trips to Fenway Park and TD Garden, and it really is one of those classic Maine roadside stops that lives up to the reputation.
