I'll be honest, when I first learned about the International Cryptozoology Museum I didn't think much of it because, well, I had no idea what Cryptozoology was.

Merriam-Webster defines cryptozoology as

the study of and search for animals and especially legendary animals (such as Sasquatch) usually in order to evaluate the possibility of their existence.

Consider my interest piqued.

Who doesn't enjoy speculating about creatures like the loch ness monster, or pukwudgie, or chupacabra?

This museum dives into a plethora of creatures that you may or may not have heard of and of course, may or not actually exist.

The Museum features things like hair samples from the Yeti, an artist's rendition of the Tatzelwurm (think a lizard but without back legs), exhibits about Bigfoot and Nessie and so much more.

The Cryptozoology Museum is located at Thompson's Point in Portland and is open during the pandemic! They do ask guests to wear a mask and practice safe social distancing. They're open every day between 11 am and 5:30 pm.
