A Dexter man was arrested after allegedly selling heroin to undercover drug agents.

Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland says Maine Drug Enforcement agents and Dexter Police wrapped up a month-long investigation by arresting 30-year-old Herbert Simonds, Jr. Officials say undercover agents were able to purchase the drugs directly from Simonds.

On Monday, agents and police officers executed a search warrant at Simond's residence, 120 Main Street in Dexter. Seized in that search were over 80 grams of suspected heroin and more than $2,600 in suspected drug proceeds. The street value of the drugs is approximately $15,000.

Simonds was taken into custody and charged with Aggravated Trafficking in Heroin, which is a Class A felony crime. He remains at the Penobscot County Jail, where bail is set at $10,000 cash.
