Hey Bangor, food truck season is here once again!

This is such an exciting time of year. The weather is warming up, concerts are coming to Bangor, people are getting back outdoors, and best of all, food trucks are popping up all around the area.

I can’t lie, I have a pretty big obsession with food trucks. I especially love it when multiple trucks are in one place at the same time. So it goes without saying that I’ve spent more than a few days on the Waterfront and at other local spots grabbing lunch.

Freshie's Wood-Fired Pizza is set to kick off their 2026 season, at 957 Union Street in Bangor, on Wednesday, May 6th, from 11am-6pm. They will be at that location every week during the summer, unless otherwise specified on their Facebook page

Wood-fired pizza stands out mostly because it’s cooked in a blazing-hot oven—around 700–900°F—so it’s done in just a couple minutes. That extreme heat gives you a crust that’s crisp and slightly charred on the outside, but still soft, airy, and chewy inside, with those signature blistered spots you don’t really get from a regular oven.

It also has a subtle smoky flavor from the wood fire that you just can’t replicate at home or in a standard pizza oven. Everything feels a bit more rustic and intense, and the toppings are usually kept simpler so the crust and ingredients can really shine. Regular pizza is great, but wood-fired pizza has that extra punch of texture and fire-kissed flavor that makes it feel more alive.

A single glance at their menu will make your mouth water, with white garlic, pepperoni, veggie, honey, BBQ chicken, Hawaiian, Rita, and Honey Bee pies being some of their most popular options.
