If you’re the kind of person who thinks Halloween should last more than one night a year, Zero Bar & Grille in Portland, might be your kind of place.

Located on 155 Riverside Street, Zero is a year-round Halloween-themed bar and grill where skeletons, gargoyles, bats and other creepy-cool decorations set the mood before you even walk through the door. The vibe is less “haunted house” and more “your favorite neighborhood bar got possessed by Halloween” It's spooky, playful and just weird enough to be fun, year round!

Inside, the Halloween spirit continues with plenty of themed décor and a huge entertainment space known as "Club Zero". There are pool tables, darts, live music, DJs, karaoke and games, which makes it a spot where you can grab dinner and a drink, or stick around for a full night of fun.

Even the menu gets in on the spooky themed fun. Casual comfort food like burgers, nachos, chicken tenders and fries comes with crazy names, likeg the Afterlife Melt, Crypt Crisps and Graveyard Griller. And yes, even our four-legged furry friends can get in on the action thanks to a dog-friendly menu inspired by Zero, the owner’s dog, who just happens to share a name with the ghost dog from The Nightmare Before Christmas.

But when October rolls around, Zero really turns it up a notch. Past Halloween-season events have included costume parties and a Zombie Prom, while the 2026 calendar includes an October 31 Halloween event, “Under the Covers Halloween,” featuring live music and plenty of encouragement to dress up in your favorite costume.

So if you’re looking for a Halloween experience without going to an actual haunted attraction, Zero Bar & Grille offers something a little different: dinner, drinks, live entertainment and a whole lot of spooky season energy all year long.

Stephen King's Bangor

Thousands of King fans visit Bangor every year, and it seems all of them go to his house on West Broadway. (Yes, that's on the list.) But the city features many landmarks that appear in some shape or form in one or more of King's stories.
