When I was in high school, I used to watch So, You Think You Know Maine on MPBN (Maine Public) all the time. It was pretty much like watching local Jeopardy. And though that show is long gone, we can now watch the high school kids of today take over with the High School Quiz Show.

Bangor High School is looking to defend its title again this year, as the program enters its third season. Bangor does have some steep local competition from Brewer and Hampden Academy. But they are just three, among the 16 schools who qualified to compete in the third season of the Maine Public Broadcasting Network program.

In the second season, Bangor defeated Falmouth for the championship, which came with a $1,000 prize for the school's project graduation. You can watch the championship match below. But take it from me, it's like when I watch Are You Smarter Than A Fifth Grader.... You might think going into it that the questions should be easy because we're adults and have more life experience, but these youngsters will shame you into oblivion.

The third season of the show premiers Thursday, February 7th, at 8 p.m. on Maine Public Television and on Facebook Live. So make suree to tune in and root for your home town team. Or be an extra good sport and root for all three local teams. Or even be the ultimate sport and just cheer on a bunch of high school kids who are obviously smarter than the rest of us!

Good luck everybody!!

(Especially Hampden! Go Broncos!)
