A baby born to a woman who died in an accident in Skowhegan has passed away.

The child was delivered by emergency c-section after the accident in which his mother was killed. 27-year-old Desiree Strout was on her way to the hospital to be induced when the car struck a patch of black ice and rolled over. She initially survived the crash but died in the ambulance before reaching the hospital.

Strout's husband and the couple's oldest daughter were also in the car. He was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, while her injuries non-life threatening.

The child has been in critical condition since the accident that happened Monday on Route 2. WABI-TV reports the infant has passed away from his injuries.
