Augusta Police found a body next to a road while investigating a missing person case.

Deputy Chief Kevin Lully said in a media release that detectives were following up leads on Thursday for a missing person case and came across a body in the area of Weeks Mills Road. State Police were called to help with the investigation.

An autopsy will be conducted at the State Medical Examiner's Office to determine the identity of the deceased and the cause of death.
