A Texas Family Gives You A Guided Tour Of Bar Harbor
Planning a trip to Bar Harbor this summer? Man, are there so many things to do and see.
A year ago today, the thought of having tourists come to Maine to visit was pretty scary with all of the problems that Covid-19 brought to our daily lives, but here we are in Maine, ready to go, and open for business, and the pride and joy of travel in our state is without question, Bar Harbor.
Texas natives, Jay, Christi, Chloe and Camden, are known as the "Puddles and Passports" family. They have a very popular YouTube Channel that provides you with informative, and useful videos from their own personal travel adventures that will give you tons of ideas and tips if you decide to plan a trip of your own. And they have chronicled their voyage here to Maine, with a cool walking tour of Bar Harbor.
What did they do? The question should be, what didn't they do! They start the day watching the sunrise over Frenchman's Bay at Agamont Park, with a stop afterwards at the sublime Choco-Latte, and a piece of the best Blueberry Pie in the world, at Mount Desert Bakery.
Up next, it's a walk from the town pier, down the Bar Harbor Stroll Path, to the breathtaking shore line, you pass the iconic Bar Harbor Inn, where I must confess, I have had many a cocktail on the outdoor patio, to Grant Park and the famous Balance Rock, where there is so much to explore. Oh, and there is a little place called Acadia National Park nearby, that is one the most visited state parks in the United States.
When it comes to shops and sight seeing you can do on foot, there is no shortage of options. Sherman's Bookstore is the oldest of its kind in Maine, and you can easily kill plenty of time there just browsing. Or, you can head to the Abbe Museum, which features "The Museum In The Streets" where you can take a walking tour.
There are boat tour options, mountain climbing, paddleboards, kayaks, whale watching expeditions, trolley rides. As this family proves, you will never run out of choices for things to do.
And of course, there is food! You want lobster? You got it. There are so many fine dining and causal options to enjoy our finest export, and great watering holes, with live music, that feature enjoy Maine crafted brews.
Watch the video, take diligent notes, and plan a fun summer getaway to Bar Harbor.
