It took less than an hour of deliberation for a jury to find Kyle Dube guilty of kidnapping and murder for the death of Nichole Cable. Dube's attorneys had argued that it could have been someone else, like Dube's ex-girlfriend, who killed the 15-year-old from Glenburn. But, in the end, the jury decided the evidence proved otherwise.

Dube was accused of setting up a false Facebook page under another student's name in order to set up a meeting with Cable. Once they met at the end of her road, the Orono man forced her into the back of his pickup and eventually left her body in some woods in Old Town.

Police say Dube told them he didn't mean to kill Nichole. His intention was to abduct her and hide her away until her family reported her missing. Then he would 'find her' and be the hero.

The BDN reports that Cable's father began to applaud while other family members wept as the verdict was read. The judge says a sentencing date will be set 'in due course.'
