It was a scary scene on the Interstate in Maine this morning when three crushed cars fell off a tractor trailer, onto the pavement. No one was injured but several motorists had to swerve to avoid colliding with the debris.

Department of Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland said in a press release that the incident happened at 7:30 Friday morning on Interstate 295, near Tukey's Bridge in Portland. State Troopers said 15 crushed cars were being delivered to a Topsham recycling plant when a cable broke on the trailer, sending three of the cars into two of the four northbound lanes. Traffic was halted for just over an hour while the scene was cleared.

Police summonsed Lambert's Auto and Truck Recyclers of Rochester, New Hampshire and the driver, 30--year-old Jason Fisher from Rochester with defective load securement. The three cars that fell were hauled away. Fisher was able to safely secure the remaining 12 cars and continued on his way to deliver his load.
