January 26th - February 1st: See how Michael Jackson, Britney Spears, Beyonce, Green Day and Macklemore marked this week in history for pop music from the past 30 years.

1993 - Michael Jackson

The Prince of Pop' performs at Super Bowl 27 in Pasadena, California.

 

1994 - Green Day

The Bay Area punk rockers release their first major label album Dookie.

1999 - Britney Spears

Britney hits #1 with her first single "...Baby One More Time".

2010 - Beyonce

At the Grammy Awards, Beyoncé wins six out of ten nominations - including Song of the Year for "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It) ".  Her wins make history when she wins the most Grammys in one night of any female artist.

2014 - Macklemore

The day after winning the Grammy Award for Best Rap Album for The Heist, Macklemore posts a screenshot of his text to Kendrick Lamar on Instagram starting a world of skepticism on his true intentions when he texts, "I wanted you to win. You should have. It's weird and sucks that I robbed you." to Lamar.

Lamar responds: "Macklemore is a genuine dude.  However, it panned out, I wish him much success."
