1998 - Barenaked Ladies

"One Week" by Barenaked Ladies hits #1 in the US, where it stays... for one week.

2003 - Beyoncé

Queen B is #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with 'Baby Boy' featuring Sean Paul.  The song is off of Queen Bey's first solo studio album Dangerously in Love.  The song's lyrics include Jay-Z as a credited writer.  The song stays #1 for nine consecutive weeks

2010 - Bruno Mars

Heartthrob and musician extraordinaire, Bruno Mars, is #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with 'Just the Way You Are'. The song is Bruno's debut solo single and lead single from his debut studio album Doo-Wops & Hooligans. This song won Bruno a 'Best Male Pop Vocal Performance' Grammy in 2011.  Oh, the fedora days.

2016 - twenty one pilots

The American band stays steady at #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 with their tune 'Heathens', featured on the soundtrack 'Suicide Squad'.  Fun fact: Heathens was leaked through social media platform Reddit nearly 2 months before it was released on the Suicide Squad soundtrack.
