The Maine Department of Transportation announced today that due to the current pandemic, the Penobscot Narrows Observatory will remain closed until further notice.

Now if you just can't wait for it to open once again or you just happen to get a little woozy with heights, then take the virtual tour that the State has put together for you.  It's pretty cool!  You'll start out at the Observatory's base before entering the elevator for the trip up.

Once you get to the top you'll have a 360 degree view of everything!

At 420 feet tall, the Penobscot Narrows Observatory is the tallest Observatory in the world, and gives one an excellent view both up and down the Penobscot River.  On one side is Fort Knox and Bucksport, and to the other you'll see the winding river making it's way to Stockton Springs and Searsport.
