Warm Your Local Special Olympics Athlete By Making a Scarf!
CALLING ALL KNITTERS!
The Special Olympics of Maine are looking for homemade scarves and hats for their upcoming event!
They are hoping to collect 500 scarves and hats to be created in time for their Special Olympics Maine State Winter Games at the end of January. The hope is that every athlete who competes will receive a special gift to keep them warm during the games.
Additionally, extras donated would go to the volunteers and coaches of the event.
If you are up for the task, donations need to be received by mid January and can be mailed or delivered to one of the following addresses:
ATTN: Katheryn Wildes
344 Old Orchard Road
Buxton, ME 04093
Special Olympics Maine
125 John Roberts Rd, Suite 5
South Portland, ME 04106
Having fun with your project is encouraged and the design or pattern is totally up to you! Purple, green and blue are the colors for the 2019 games, if that helps give you direction.
Also, keep in mind that these are teens and adults, so plan on that for your creations. The organizers ask that scarfs are priority but hats will be accepted as well.
