Bangor Police say a trespassing call to Family Dollar ended with a foot pursuit against a wanted man, who allegedly pulled a gun on the officers.

Sergeant Wade Betters says officers responded to the store, located at 89 State Street, at approximately 8:10 PM Thursday. One of the people involved in the incident was evasive with the officers and gave them a false name. When the officers discovered that his true identity is Eufemio Santana of Hampden, he took off running. Police also learned that there was a failure to appear in court warrant out for Santana's arrest, in connection with a driving offense.

Officers ran after the 37-year-old, who ran across Oak Street and then down York Street. As he neared the intersection with French Street, police say one of the officers witnessed Santana pulling a handgun from his waistband. Luckily, he dropped the gun when he tripped and fell to the ground. The officers tackled the suspect and, after a brief struggle, took him into custody.

Santana was out on bail at the time of the incident and has previous felony convictions, one of which is for a charge of Escape. He's been charged with unlawful possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, unlawful possession of a scheduled W drug (suspected heroin), refusal to submit to arrest, and violation of bail.

Santana is currently being held at the Penobscot County Jail.
