Veazie’s Gonna Be Bright! Hathaway Holiday Lights Opens
For 11 years, the Hathaway family (much to the delight of many in the greater Bangor area) has put together one of the more impressive holiday light shows in town. They have done so, in part, in honor of a twin they lost to premature birth, and as a tribute to the sibling who survived thanks to the amazing medical team in the NICU.
Last year, they moved their display to the front lawn of the Veazie School, which allowed for folks to actually park in a parking lot and walk up to check the show out in person.

Well, they're back at it, in Veazie, again this year.
Boasting over 70,000 lights, 400 channels of animation all programmed to music sequences, the 2021 Edition of the Hathaway Holiday Lights display opened for the season Wednesday, Dec. 1.
According to Rick Hathaway, the mastermind behind the show, there are so many things for people to enjoy this year.
"Interactive elements for people to enjoy and walk through the display
25’ mega tree, 20’ snowflake was, 4 faces that sing to the music."
Onlookers can enjoy the programmed sequences by tuning in to 88.1FM on their radios.
According to the Hathaway Holiday Lights Facebook page, the display will be open from December 1 through10, from 4:30 PM to 8:30 PM. Then December 11 through 26, they'll extend that time by an hour and run from 4 PM to 9 PM.
As in years past, donations are welcome.
"This year we will continue to collect donations for Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Centers Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. 100% of the donations collected go directly to the NICU."
And don't forget to enter your own lights display into our Light Up Eastern Maine 2021 contest. Just take a photo of all your hard work, and upload it here. The winner this year gets $500!
