Bangor Woman is Going to Prison for a Drug House Called ‘The Farm’

A Bangor woman received her sentence this week for drug-related activities in her Union Street home.

What Was the Sentence?

The United States Attorneys Office, District of Maine reports Brenda Shaboski of Bangor, is sentenced to a year and a day in prison, which will be followed by three years of supervised release. The sentence was handed down by U.S. District Judge John A. Woodcock, Jr., who referred to the 'staggering amount of illegal drugs' involved at her home.

There is no way to overstate the impact of these poisonous and addictive substances on this country and on Maine in particular.

Shaboski pleaded guilty in July to the charges against her. When she was arrested in April 2021, officials said she was selling drugs to support her own habit.

Why Was the House Referred to as 'The Farm?'

The 65-year-old woman owned the house at 1702 Union Street in Bangor where, from June to December of 2020, it was used by Shaboski and others to buy, sell, and use illegal drugs including fentanyl, heroin, and cocaine base. Officials say most of the traffic in and out of the residence was drug-related. Drug distributors also used the house as a place to 'cook' powder cocaine into crack. And court documents say that in March 2021, Shaboski arranged fentanyl sales from the house.

Shaboski's house has been seized by law enforcement. The Financial Litigation Unit of the U.S. Attorney's Office will receive $23,372 in sale proceeds of the residence.

Is It True the House Has a History of Violence?

There have been two instances, in the home's history, where police were called for instances of violence.

In December 2020, police were called to the house for a report of an unconscious man. When they arrived, they found Syies Adams deceased. The medical examiner declared his death a homicide.

And in June of 2019, two men got into a fight over a woman. Albe Lagasse shot the second man in the leg, which prompted the second man to shoot Lagasse in the face. Lagasse pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 18 years, with all but 7 suspended.
