Many truths become uncovered that reveal to you that your childhood is over.

The tooth fairy.

Santa Claus.

Where babies come from.

But one of those hard truths is when you become too old to trick-or-treat.  Usually, it's a choice by the child/teenager... "Trick or treating is boring.  I'd rather go hang out at my friend's house."  Or, it is a choice by the parents who are done freezing their appendages off to walk around for 2 hours and won't let the kids go out without the parents watchful eye.

But, there's one American town that has taken matters into their own hands.

Section 46-8 - Trick or treat activities

(a)

If any person over the age of 12 years shall engage in the activity commonly known as "trick or treat" or any other activity of similar character or nature under any name whatsoever, he or she shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and shall be punished by a fine of not less than $25.00 nor more than $100.00 or by confinement in jail for not more than six months or both.

If you're like me and didn't want to read all that it says that if you are 13 years old and trick-or-treat you could face a misdemeanor and a fine or go to jail.

Man, that's a COLD hard truth and Chesapeake ain't taking your 13-year-old crap.

I guess it could make you grateful that there's no ordinance like that around here in the Bangor area... or maybe inspire you to create a new one.  Can't the kids just be kids?
