This Iconic Maine Take Out Restaurant Announces Opening Day
When these seasonal businesses starting opening, you really know that spring has sprung!
Crosby's Drive-In, located on Route 46 in Bucksport, has been serving Bucksport and surrounding communities in Hancock, Waldo, Penobscot counties and beyond, for more than 70 years, and they are gearing up for another season in 2022. It was all started back in 1940, by Elton ‘Fat’ Crosby and his wife, and has been run since 1980, by Jennifer & Tom Pappas.
On Saturday, April 16, Crosby's will be open from 11 am-7 pm, to kick things off.
Crosby's is known as the "Home of the Golden Buck Burger" and the famous "Pig’s Dinner". Best of all, it really captures that old-school drive-in take-out feel, that is pretty rare these days. All of us old-school fans of the now gone, Nicky's in Bangor, remember that feeling of heading there on a nice summer day. Crosby's definitely captures that vibe.
Once they open on the 16th, they will remain open until Labor Day. The menu features seafood, burgers, sandwiches, salads and Maine-made ice cream.
With the announcements of Gifford's, and Jimmie's Ice Cream & Grill opening their doors for the season, and now Crosby's, things are heating up after a long winter. Certainly, places like the iconic Jordan's Snack Bar in Ellsworth, will be joining them soon as well.
