Maine, we are so close. don't let up now!

Slowly but surely, we are starting to get back some sense of normalcy, after a year of hardships for everyone, including Maine run businesses. The light at the end of this very long tunnel is in sight, now is not the time to take our foot off the gas pedal. Granted, it's tempting to relax a little bit with all of the positive things happening, but we aren't quite there just yet.

The Maine Public Health Association and U.S. PIRG, along with a group of Maine business leaders, health workers, and other state leaders, started an initiative to remind Mainers to keep on wearing those pesky face masks, in spite of the fact that many people across the state are getting their COVID-19 vaccines.

“Keep Maine Safe, Keep Maine Open” was started to help local businesses stay open and keep all of us here in the Pine Tree State, safe and sound. The campaign includes short videos of local leaders, regular everyday people, and even school kids, who are speaking up and showing their support for the cause.

From a personal standpoint, today I will receive my second vaccination shot, and as a member of the media, I wrote this up today, to make sure that this important initiative gets the attention it deserves. In fact, I would be more than happy to record a video for these fine folks, so this issue stays top of mind as we head into the homestretch.

Wearing a mask is one of the best ways to keep Maine businesses open and thriving safely. Doing so will help us protect each other and put the worst of the pandemic behind us.
