Are STEPS About to Dethrone Ed Sheeran on the U.K. Album Chart?

Ed Sheeran might think he's comfortable at the top spot of the U.K. Albums Chart with his latest studio album, Divide, after a month — but are pop super-troupe STEPS about to overtake the "Shape of You" singer and triumph victoriously at Number One (for Sorrow)?

It sure seems that way.

According to the latest sales report from Official Charts, the "Scared of the Dark" superstars — back twenty years after their 1997 debut single "5,6,7,8" with their fifth studio album — might just oust the singer-songwriter from his temporary throne. (Tragedy!)

"Tears On The Dancefloor, Steps's first album of totally new material in over 15 years, currently leads the way in the race to the summit, just over 4,000 ahead of Ed Sheeran's Divide, which has topped the chart for the last seven weeks," the site reports.

And that's not all: their greatest hits package is coming along for the ride in the Top 20, it seems: "Steps' 2011 hits retrospective The Ultimate Collection is set to make a return to the Top 40, zooming 45 places to 16."

Ed might have thought his biggest competition was Adele. As it turns out, it's actually Lisa Scott-Lee and company.

And suddenly, the famous redhead crooner's a deeper shade of blue.
