Stephen King Has A NSFW Tweet About A New Twitter Policy
Bangor's most famous resident has never been shy about sharing his views on social media!
After his controversial purchase of Twitter for a whopping $44 Billion dollars, new owner Elon Musk is already shaking thing up on the site.
Stephen King tweeted (with a bit of saucy language) that he was no fan of Musk's idea to charge a $20 monthly fee to keep the blue check on a profile of a verified account.
Musk tried to bargain with King, and suggest a $8 dollar fee, claiming that "We need to pay the bills somehow"
Since the Master of Horror is from Maine, I thought it would be interesting to get the Maine perspective of this from Reddit.
As you would imagine, living in the polarized world that we do, Mainers has lots of opinions!

Is this Musk's way of acknowledging $1-billion in ad revenue isn't enough or advertisers are bailing?

Both, but I think it’s also him realizing that he paid $44 billion for a company that was valued at less than half of that. It also sounds like he’s realizing that the company isn’t as profitable as he thought and that it is neither as secure or as powerful as he may have believed. I can’t stand zuck but put it this way: twitter isn’t half the company that meta is, it hasn’t diversified and that fact alone makes in vulnerable.

Reminds me of Hollywood. Sometimes you can get a project funded because the writer or the director or the lead actor is like money in the bank. That’s how Elon was to banks, a can’t lose bet. But, I mean… cmon.

I understand Kings point, but can't have much empathy for millionaires haggling over $200 bucks a year. I personally don't use either so doesn't matter to me. Just find it amusing.

King isn't upset about the money, he's rightfully pointing out that without big names on Twitter there isn't a "twitter".

Musk is too egotistical to do this without publicly trumpeting his achievement.
I deactivated my two Twitter accounts when he took over.

$8 per month. Would you really pay $8/month for a blue check on Twitter?
Honestly, quitting Twitter and Facebook is one of the best things I ever did. Seriously improved my quality of life.

They have Stephen King creating free content and this fuc#!r wants to charge him??

Imagine asking Stephen King to pay you to write. This is peak billionaire delusion. This is all you need to know about this caste of society.

Lofl.. "How about $8?".. Beautifully snide response.

It's sort of funny listening to successful millionaires suddenly balking at the idea of having to come up with $20 a month.

All these years and he should have been paying for the privilege of publishing his books! That’s totally how it works.

Two millionaires fighting over chump change.

No way Steven King could resist tweeting
