Once upon a time in Skowhegan, there was a thrift store run by an organization called Skills Inc. People could come in, and like any other thrift store, people would comb through all the items in the store looking to score something that might make their life a little easier that someone else didn't want anymore.

Obviously these thrift stores thrive on donations from the general public. If you were to drive by the location of that store recently, you'd think they were still doing a bustling business, at least judging by the size of the pile of stuff outside. The only problem is, this particular store has been closed for four years, according to Fox Bangor.

This is sad for a variety of reasons. First of all, stuff that's being left there is mostly being thrown away. And it very well could go somewhere else so that folks who need it could have access to it. But worse, folks are using it as a dump, knowing full well that they're not supposed to leave things there.

Officials from the city of Skowhegan said they'd put up signs and warnings, but the previous owner said he's done the same thing many times, and people just rip up the signs and leave they're junk anyway.

Which says to this humble author, that folks are just lazy and don't want to do things the right way. they just want a quick fix that gets their problem off of their hands, just to put it on someone else's.

At this time, the property id for sale, and it will be interesting to see how a new owner deals with this very old problem for the town of Skowhegan. It's too bad people can't just do things the right way. But hey.... this is the world we live in these days, sadly. Either way, let's hope the junk stops there.
