I need some ideas!

Most students will be wrapping up their "distance learning" aka school over the next two weeks. And after that, the summer break season will be upon us. But then what? What will we all be doing? How, in this new world of risk and unrest, can anyone possibly hope to relax and reboot? That seems like an unattainable goal.

I've seen a lot of online chatter the past few days, people looking for ideas on how to spend what could possibly the strangest and trickiest summer we've had in recent memory.

Let's face it, we all need a freaking vacation after surviving the onslaught 2020 has thrown at us--so far. (And who knows what's to come...but it seems like we can't catch a break this year, so I'm not holding my breath just yet!) Who can afford to take a vacation right now? And where are we going to go? How enjoyable are trips and camps and parties--all the things that make summer fun and awesome, when you have to constantly be on high alert about your distance, and germs and hand sanitizer and masks? I'm tired just thinking about all the extra stuff I'd have to remember to pack, even for a simple day trip, and all the warnings I'd continuously have to remind my kids about. Plus, if you're like me, and you've been feeding your feelings through all of this, showing skin is the last thing you want to think about!

That's not what Summer is supposed to be; Anxiety. Illness. Unrest.

Am I alone here in feeling this way?

Or are some of you in the same boat?

I'm not trying to be a Debbie-Downer--just looking at the hard truth of the matter. Summer is going to be very different this year.

That being said, I am totally open to ideas, if someone's got them, on how to enjoy this fleeting season of sunshine that shows up for 3 months of the year.

I want this to be a good experience and break for my family. We all need it. We've all earned it! I want to be able to re-energize, rest and reclaim some of the sanity I feel we've all lost in just hanging on for dear life!

So I'm asking, genuinely...Whatcha doin' this summer?

Let's share some good, safe, fun ideas.

Hopefully we'll be able to rest our brains, our eyes and our haunches for a little bit. And with any luck, the weather won't be a complete disaster, and we'll get some Vitamin D out of this season, too. Lord knows we could use a boost!
