Police on Thursday released the name of the 21-year-old Bangor man killed in a single-car crash in Winterport.

Blaze McQuate died at the scene of the Tuesday night crash on Baker Road in Winterport, according to Waldo County Chief Deputy Jason Trundy.

McQuate's car left the road and hit a large tree, according to police, who are investigating the accident.

Police have said speed and alcohol were factors in the crash.

McQuate's employer, the Hilton Garden Inn, released a statement Thursday reading in part, "Our hearts are heavy, as we tragically lost a valued team member far too early."

According to his Facebook, he was a graduate of Hampden Academy.
