It's so big they have five buildings of stuff to check out this Friday and Saturday.

And it is a great community event and fundraiser making it extra special.

There’s a reason the Orono Old Town Kiwanis Charity Auction has been going on for 75 years.  Do the math. 1947 is when it began. Wonder what that was like. Wow!

The yard sale begins at 3:30 p.m. both this Friday and Saturday, and the auction begins at 5:30 p.m. on both days.

The yard sale is indoors at five buildings. Yes, five buildings to work through.

Items for home, office, camp, and yard.

Furniture, appliances, dishes, cookware, office supplies, artwork, toys, puzzles, games, sports equipment, gold clubs, bikes, dolls, tools, and building supplies.

Did I miss anything?  Of course, I did. It’s FIVE full buildings!

One of those buildings Is full of used books, music, and movies.  Vinyl, CDs, DVDs, Comic books too.

Both evening’s auctions, both silent and live, will have donated items from many area businesses

Shopping tip.

Gift cards from local businesses make great gifts.

And yes it is a fundraiser with money raised supporting  local children’s projects and scholarships sponsored by the Kiwanis Club

When you have a bite from the snack bar between events, look around and see if you can stop somebody who might have attended a lot of the 75 years it’s been going on. Say hello, and let them share a story or two, as you enjoy hot dogs, popcorn, ice cream, strawberry shortcake, and blueberry shortcake. Figured out what you want? Save room for dessert indeed.

The Kiwanis Club of Orono Old-Town is at 168 Forest Ave, Orono, and there is plenty of parking.  This Friday and Saturday.
