There's not much time left to enjoy the Orono Bog Boardwalk. It will close early this year, here's why.

The Orono Bog Boardwalk will close earlier than usual this season. Signs have been posted to inform visitors that the Bogwalk will close October 13, at 4:30PM. The reason for the early closure is to give volunteers time to remove and replace 65 Boardwalk sections. According to the Bog Boardwalk website, this will take 2 to 3 weeks to complete. Work will begin October 14.

According to a Facebook post earlier this spring by Bangor Mayor, Ben Sprague, the Bog Boardwalk has been visited by over 350,000 people from all 50 states, and more than 30 countries since it opened in 2003.

The Orono Bog Boardwalk loop trail is about one mile. To protect the environment and wildlife, dogs are not allowed. The Bog Boardwalk is open 8AM-4:30PM daily.
