Finally, some great news for outdoor enthusiast in the Greater Bangor Area! The Orono Bog Boardwalk announced on their Facebook Page this week that they finally have an opening date for this season!

"The Boardwalk will open for the 2021 season on Monday, May 17 at 7am. Please wear a mask when 6 foot distancing cannot be accomplished around individuals outside of your household."

The Bog Walk closed last Spring, due to concerns about Covid-19. There are sections of the boardwalk that are narrow and would have made social distancing difficult. So members of the Boardwalk Management team decided to keep it closed for the 2020 season.

Last month, the team sighted an increase in Covid positivity as the reason for the continued closure. Many hoped this would not be a permanent closure for the 2021 season, as well.

The news that it will in fact open is very welcomed!

The Orono Bog Boardwalk opening is something many in this area look forward to each year. It's kind of like a rite of spring.

With it's a relatively easy walks and great sights and trail-side information, the Orono Bog Boardalk provides a fun experience for all ages, especially as more and more folks take to the outdoors to shake off some of that cabin fever.

You can like the Orono Bog Board Walk on Facebook to be kept up to date with the latest information on the trail.
