New Z-107.3 Music This Week [VIDEO]
3 big stars, 2 big new hits
Finally, “Blinding Lights” from The Weeknd, is ending it’s ridiculously long run on the charts and we are all ready for a new single! "Save Your Tears" is from his fourth album After Hours. And just like “Blinding Lights” it has a bouncy 80’s flashback kind of sound. There are those who think the track is about both Bella Hadid and, another recent ex, Selena Gomez.
If you missed his somewhat unusual performance of the song from the recent American Music Awards, which featured of all people, Kenny G, we put that up, along with the “Tik Tok Experience” video too!
We love a good superstar hookup, and "Prisoner" is the best in quite some time. It’s from “Platic Hearts” which is a more rock influenced album from Miley Cyrus, and also features vocals from the one and only, Dua Lipa. The song incorporates a variety of different styles, and this is about as much of a no brainer as you can get.
How did they hookup? In an interview with Zane Lowe for Apple Music, Miley offered these thoughts:
For her and I, there's just no competition. That changes just everything. There's a true partnership. Then I also liked that it wasn't the first song we'd cut together. We actually cut other songs. She wanted to keep going until it was right, until we found the one that honors our individuality. [...] We just waited until we felt like, 'Now this is Dua-Miley song. You can just, everything about it reflects us.' I mean, there's even something to me, like how I talk about like fashion being a way to flip yourself inside out. The colors that I see, when I listen to a song, I see colors. Some people's charisma is really overwhelming. I see, when Dua's around, that her charisma, there's no sense of desperation to it, like, 'I've got to be the best because if I'm not what if...' There's a calmness to her success, which I really like. Because I feel like when you can tell someone is too much of a… or a survivalist. That I don't like.
A cover of the brilliant pop tune "Put Your Records On" by Corinne Bailey Rae’s from 2006 has been released by Ritt Momney, who is actually singer Jack Rutter. The song became a sleeper hit after gaining popularity on Tik Tok back in September. The track has been a pop hit in 15 countries.
During Rutter's childhood, his mother often played the song while driving. He.recorded it in the basement of his parents' home after a bout of depression brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic.
