March ‘Worm Moon’ Hike Scheduled At Old Town Wildlife Refuge
If you want to take a nighttime adventure with the full moon overhead and the quiet woods of Maine surrounding you, then you'll be all about this event happening in Old Town on March 18th at the Hirundo Wildlife Refuge.
A full moon hike in the wilderness of Maine
Old Town's Hirundo Wildlife Refuge has some of the most untouched wilderness in the Bangor area and now you get the opportunity to experience it at night with a walk through the park in the light of the full moon, Friday, March 18. The hike is scheduled to start at 8 PM with the plan to meet at Gate 1 to soak in the light of the full moon.

March's 'Worm Moon' and 'Lentin Moon'
According to NASA, our next full moon will reach its peak in the early morning hours of Friday, March 18th at 3:17 A.M., perhaps a little too early or too late for a hike.
This month's full moon is called 'The Worm Moon'. In Christianity, this moon is considered the Lenten Moon, the last full moon before the spring equinox. April's full moon will be after the spring equinox, which apparently, will determine when Easter happens this year.
