A lot of the state of Maine has seen the first snowflakes of the season already with more of the state likely to experience a dusting to 3 inches on Friday.

If you're anything like me it's pretty easy for things to come and go from the vehicle between seasons. I mean, you gotta make room for the beach stuff while you can, right?!

Well, now's the time to reevaluate and restock. For National Checklist day the Maine DOT Released a handy list of things to have ready to go in your vehicle if need be.

Cell Phone Charger
Jumper Cables
Spare Tire
Ice Scraper
Small Shovel
Duct Tape
Extra Oil
Flashlight
First Aid Kit
Blankets
Jackets
Gloves
Water
Snacks
Extra Masks

The reality is, we never know what could happen on Maine roads so it's best to be safe and be prepared and not need any of it than to need it and not have it.

Take it from me, I moved in the middle of winter last and learned the hard way how ill-prepared I was as I spent one morning digging out my car with an ice-scraper.

Thanks for the reminder MaineDOT. We can't deny it any longer. Winter is coming.
