Today is Maine's Presidential Primary Elections where we vote for our party candidates for president.  We are also voting on one Special State Referendum Question.  Here is some information on what Mainer's will be voting on today.

Presidential Primary Elections

Today, we vote on our choice for presidential nominations per party.  If you are registered as a Democrat you choose from the following as to whom you would prefer be up for presidential voting this November:

Democrat

  • Senator Bernie Sanders (VT)
  • Former Vice President Joseph Biden
  • Mayor Mike Bloomberg (NY)
  • Senator Elizabeth Warren (MA)
  • Representative Tulsi Gabbard (HI)

Republicans only have one choice, as the bill is unopposed by any other Republicans:

Republican

  • President Donald Trump

Referendum Question

We also will be voting on medical exemption, which we actually voted on last year but has been sent back to the ballot to see if the voters would like to veto what they voted to legalize last year.

Here's what the question looks like and your choices:

Question 1

Do you want to reject the new law that removes religious and philosophical exemptions to requiring immunization against certain communicable diseases for students to attend schools and colleges and for employees of nursery schools and health care facilities?

A "yes" vote is to repeal the new law, thereby reinstating religious and philosophical exemptions to required vaccinations.

A "no" vote is to uphold the new law that eliminates religious and philosophical exemptions to vaccinations. Medical exemptions would still be permitted.
